My Approaches to Therapy

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
A structured, time-limited therapy aimed at helping individuals enhance their relationships and communication skills. It is based on the idea that our relationships significantly impact our feelings, and by concentrating on these connections, we can improve our overall well-being.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
A structured treatment designed to help individuals manage emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. DBT was initially aimed at treating borderline personality disorder but has since been applied to a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. The four primary skills areas are: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Standard DBT has two main components: individual therapy and skills training classes. However, DBT skills can also be integrated into other therapy approaches.

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT)
An adaptation of traditional DBT, specifically designed for individuals with disorders characterized by over-control, such as obsessive-compulsive personality disorder and anorexia nervosa. It focuses on enhancing emotional openness, flexibility, and social connectedness. Standard treatment includes individual therapy and a skills group.

Cognitive Processing Therapy
A structured, time-limited therapy focused on helping individuals worth through trauma by addressing and reframing unhelpful thoughts related to their experiences. It is based on the idea that how we think about traumatic events influences how we feel and act in daily life, and by working on these thoughts, we can reduce distress and improve quality of life.
